Our final day aboard the Grand Princess came round all too soon 😦
We woke up late after having difficulty getting to sleep with how much the ship was swaying, the North Sea must have been really rough – thankfully I had taken my travel sickness pills so I didn’t feel unwell, but they can’t stop you feeling the lurches as the ship is beaten by waves!
We had intended to try and fit in some of the other activities on-board around our packing but our late start meant the by the time we’d had breakfast and done the main bulk of the packing we’d missed all the morning activities 😦 We popped down to buy our last batch of photos and cruise DVD and ended up chatting to the photographers for ages! All in all we bought 48 photos of ourselves! vain or what? lol
After grabbing some lunch we decided it would be best to finish the packing and ended up having to buy extra bag’s from the store to fit everything in! We had only bought a couple of gifts for the kids/parents and our watches and photos so why we needed so much extra space I don’t know? By the time we finished it was 5pm – time to collect my ceramic photo frame. Where had the day gone, we’d not really done anything we had hoped Then we went back to the photo gallery to collect our CD’s and ended up chatting to the photographers for ages again. From this chat we decided our next cruise would have to be to Alaska as the photographers inspired us with tales about some great excursions and activities that they had seen during their time with Princess Cruises.
Our final evening meal in Horizon Court again – strange how we preferred this to the more formal dining options, but then I guess the buffet style selection meant it was ok to mix foods such as pasta, with roast meats, chips, spring rolls, salmon and cakes on the same plate, hehe (which would never happen in the restaurants, where you are served clearly defined starters, mains and desserts). Then it was time to snuggle down for the final movie under the stars – Inception. I decided to read the final couple of chapters of the book I had started during my trip to Stonehenge – ‘Friends Like These’ by Danny Wallace, while the other half went round taking some final pictures of the ship.
Leaving our luggage outside our room we settled down for our final sleep on-board. In the morning we had our final breakfast before disembarking, and just as it had been quick and easy coming aboard the disembarkation process was smooth and pain free – luggage easy to find, than straight out to the car park in Southampton and we were on our way home…
I hope you have enjoyed reading about our holiday as much as we enjoyed going on it. I highly recommend you give a cruise a try if you haven’t done one before and Princess are a great company to travel with 😀
