This is Part 2 of a two part post, you can read Part 1 – A guide for what to avoid… here
Now let me just remind you of the few things I am NOT an expert in…
- Web Design
- SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
- HTML source coding
- Meta Data and Keywords
- Social Media Marketing
After the disgrace of Company X yesterday I now want to share two examples of Companies that are getting it right – and this time I am naming names! Let me introduce to you www.nikkipilkington.com and www.thisistraffic.co.uk…
Okay, lets examine these two websites…
An Internet Marketing Company.
For starters the website just looks so much better, links work, typos and filler text are rare. For me personally the site is a little bit ‘busy’ but that’s not an issue that has any major impact, I’m just a bit of a ‘less is more’ person when it comes to some things…otherwise, I love the content and user-friendly capabilities of Nikki’s site.
The technical stuff
Here is an example of the source code from Nikki’s site, as you can see there are ‘keywords’ where keywords should be, unlike Company X.
And when you put Nikki’s website into the keyword tool –
A nice long list of keyword suggestions based on the content of the site, this info can help you decide on additional keywords you might want to include in your meta data, or even if you think it worth paying for a PPC (Pay per click) or Adwords campaign.
A savvy web 2.0 digital marketing agency.
A smooth looking website (suits my less is more idealization), again working links, lack of typos, all the things you would expect from a good looking website, that works! Really, what is there to say when things are just ‘right’? I can’t fault this!
The Technical Stuff
Again the Source Code for this is traffic demonstrates the correct usage of meta data and keywords –
And when you put the website into the keyword tool you get the following results…
Well I don’t know about you, but me I’d much prefer to put my trust in one of the two companies mentioned today than in those like Company X from yesterdays post. (btw, broken links and typos – on both of these issues everyone is entitled to the occasional mistake, links break and we are all only human after all, but the constant inconsistencies and errors of yesterday’s site are absent here!) If you want to attract visitors/traffic to your site, increase your profile and gain customers getting your webdesign, SEO and social media marketing right is vital – seriously who would you prefer to use???
