Lacking Inspiration

You may or may not have noticed that I am lacking slightly lately…

I am struggling to find anything to write about. My inspiration and motivation are empty, I cannot think of anything to write. For blog posts, for my book, anything… it’s all just blank.

I thought I would be full of ideas and have lots to write about after going on my Arvon course, but instead there is just a void.

Sure, using the writing exercises I could churn out lots of flash fiction pieces, but if that is all I am posting my blog would soon get monotonous and boring. My readers are used to a variety of subjects flowing here, if I just write about the same thing all the time it wont be the same.

I don’t know what to do about this, I can only hope that something will come along to inspire me again before I end up with day after day of not posting!

For now though at least I have been able to share that I am having this issue so that if there are days with nothing here you know why.

I might pull out the 30 day blog challenge that I did last year and see if following that again can get me back into the groove, but I also have the issue of being away for a week very soon that I either need to get some posts scheduled in advance for or end up with a whole week of not posting.

If anyone has any other good ideas to get me back into the flow, please share them below! Thank you

  1. Give yourself time and don’t worry about it too much. Sometimes, a little break is good to recharge your batteries. But definitely don’t feel bad about it.
    Feel better S. xx

  2. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You’ll write when you’re compelled to do so and when you do – it’ll be brilliant.

  3. Oh dear, I sympathize. I hate it when that happens to me.

Something I’ve been wondering about a lot lately is what a person who has BPD perceives as helpful behaviour by significant others, or – vice versa – as particularly unhelpful behaviour, no matter how well-intended. I don’t know if that speaks to you as in “hey, I want to write about that” at all, but I thought I’d throw it in, just in case is does. 😉

Other than that what often helps me when I lack inspiration is to read through old stuff I’ve written and that looks interesting to me at the moment. I often find a starter there, or an interesting angle that wants exploring.

I hope inspiration comes back to you soon!
    Greetings, Julia

  4. I wish I had advice for you… the same thing happens to me and I just have to wait it out or maybe do some journal writing. Also, certain music with help me to churn ideas in my head.
I hope you break out of the writers block soon. ♥

  5. We have ebbs and flows of inspiration, nobody is a bottomless pit! I agree with comments saying to not be too hard on yourself. Perhaps this is a good time to get out of your usual writing situation and do something new – or just do something to mix up your everyday life. Go for a walk somewhere new, go visit some local attraction… I find that sitting in the middle of the mall and just watching people (or even a street corner, anywhere there is a constant flow) brings up SO many things for me – wondering who they are, where they come from, are going, what they are thinking, etc 🙂 good luck 🙂

  7. Hey S, hope you’re ok – sending lots of love to you and don’t put too much pressure on yourself, you are a massive inspiration to so many already, and…good things come to those who wait 🙂 x
